A traumatized people who traumatized their neighbors, the Native American tribe known as Apache were among the last Indians to surrender to the U.S. Government. Dan, of course, has thoughts. This is a long show!

Fantastic! But it might be time to remove “this is a long show!” from the show description. Not sure applies.

Thoroughly enjoyed expanding my knowledge and appreciation of one of the tribes of the American West. It’s true that, as an American, one can’t study the history of the West without equal parts pride and shame.

I just got HH for my birthday and was listening by order of release, since I like seeing how a podcast evolves. I had a lot of fun so far and I’m happy the episodes grow longer. There were a lot of high points so far- the admiration towards Churchill, the differences between Hitler and Stalin, the fascinating presentation of the Assyrians. But THIS episode is the pinnacle of my experience so far with the podcast. Dan really manages to convey here the sentiments of both sides in what a non-american non-Indian such as myself considers to be respectful towards both sides of the American Indian war- at least the late one. I especially liked the tidbit about TR and Geronimo and how it was presented both in an emotional and rational perspectives.
Looking forward for what comes next and having a great journey so far!

I think the truly sad part is, this story was never going to end any other way. It’s what makes it so tragic, the sense of inevitability.
