On the December 13th episode of the Daily Show Jon had an extended interview with Lawrence Lessig about corruption in Congress and I felt he had some really good ideas on how to address the problem. In part one he identifies the problem and in part two he gives his solution (mainly a voucher contribution system). I'd like to hear Dan's take on what he said because a common theme in the show is how corruption needs to be tackled before any other problems have a hope of being fixed. If not in an actual show (crosses fingers) I'd like to hear what people think as replies to this post. Link below to the episode.

For those who don't want to sit through the whole show, but get to the Lawrence Lessig part the OP was referring to:

I would be very curious to see what Dan thinks after reading Lessig's book. Lessig talks about all of the things that Dan focuses on but he points to the source problems rather than the symptoms.

I think it would be a great show for Dan to talk about this book.

I'm going to check out his book. It's refreshing to hear a Harvard law professor talking about campaign finance reform, someone who is willing to actually discuss a central problem in American politics. And not only does he identify the problem, he proffers a potential solution. I think I'm going to check out his book.

+1

I've been persuaded by Lessig's argument every time I've heard him make it the past several years. I'm in. Are you?

Lawrence Lessig is one of those people who would fit in wonderfully on this board.

In case you missed it, Lessig on "On Point":

and the slide show they refer to:

This plan makes the most sense to me of all those I've heard. If you can, please get involved!
